About Eric
Eric is the Founding Partner of Berg Law Group, a boutique trial firm representing emerging and established companies and individuals in high-stakes matters throughout California. Prior to founding the firm, Eric served as the Chair of the Litigation Department of Santa Barbara-based Hatch and Parent and as a Litigation Shareholder with Hatch and Parent’s successor, Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck.
Eric has over 35 years of experience focusing on the litigation of business and real estate disputes. Representing clients in state and federal courts throughout California, he has achieved successful trial and arbitration results across all major industries, with particular emphasis on professional services, trust and estates, and real estate.
Eric's commercial litigation experience includes representing professional services firms and their principals in negligence and intentional misconduct matters. He represents companies in the areas of hospitality and wine, agricultural, financial services and manufacturing in commercial disputes in state and federal court. Eric also represents trustees and beneficiaries in disputes over the interpretation and implementation of wills and trusts.
Eric's real estate experience includes lead trial and arbitration counsel for owners, developers, and design and engineering professionals. He has represented construction professionals in seven and eight-figure disputes, and has tried construction and design cases to verdict. He represents California property owners in high profile coastal access disputes, and has a long history of successfully representing property owners in complex land use, contract, and disclosure actions in the role of lead trial counsel.
Eric is the 2025 President of the California Central Coast Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates, an invitation-only national trial lawyer organization. He is an Arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association's National Roster of Arbitrators as well as its Panel of Construction Arbitrators.
Active in the community, Eric is the Past President of the Santa Barbara County Bar Association, and serves as Chairperson of its Fee Arbitration Committee. He is also Immediate Past President of the Jewish Federation of Greater Santa Barbara, and is the former Board Chair of the Tri Counties Region of the Anti-Defamation League (ADL). In 2012 Eric was presented with the ADL’s Harter-Myerson Award in recognition of his service as an outstanding community leader.
Eric obtained his BA in Political Science from the University of California San Diego in 1984, where he was selected to serve as Student Commencement Speaker. He obtained his law degree from the University of Southern California Gould School of Law in 1987.
